Notification dropdown menu

demetrio
Hi everyone,

I want to customize a Menu dropdown from a MenuBar to look like the
elements of the MacOS X Mountain Lion Notification Center:

http://heresthethingblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/OS-X-Mountain-Lion-for-Mac-Notification-Center.jpg

But i found that i can't put into the menu, items like a Composite, it
wants only qx.ui.menu.AbstractButton instances.

Other thing i've think is link the execute event of the menubar button,
to make appear the Component like on MacOS but I don't know how to set
the button in the state of "active" like when the dropdown menu is opened.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Notification dropdown menu

Alexander Steitz
Hi Daniel,

a possible solution would be to use a custom widget.

1. Create a popup widget as a container - the popup is a composite container so you can put anything you like to into it

2. Create your elements using composite container and put them into your popup

3. Create a button which acts as an opener for the popup. Whenever this button is clicked you can use the "placeToWidget" method of the popup class to position your popup.

Is this a possible solution for you? I think creating a custom widget should be a good solution, because you gain the flexibility you need to implement your look & feel.

Regards,
  Alex
